A c\u00e2\u0219tigat premiul \u00eent\u00e2i la concursul de pian solo din cadrul Festivalului de Jazz de la Montreux din 2000. \u00cen 2005, a fost ales cel mai bun solist la Festivalul Interna\u021bional de Jazz de la Avignon. De atunci, \u0219i-a stabilit o reputa\u021bie serioas\u0103 \u00een lumea jazzului. Jack DeJohnette, unul dintre gigan\u021bii jazzului cu care a c\u00e2ntat, a declarat: \"Cred c\u0103 Robert este unul dintre cei mai buni tineri piani\u0219ti de pe scena jazzului de ast\u0103zi\". <br \/>Un alt partener muzical, John Patitucci, a dat urm\u0103toarea p\u0103rere despre interpretarea lui Robert: \"Sunetul \u0219i atingerea sa la pian sunt foarte dezvoltate \u0219i foarte lirice.\" \u00cen afar\u0103 de DeJohnette \u0219i Patitucci, Robert a c\u00e2ntat cu arti\u0219ti precum Reggie Johnson, Palle Danielsson, Jojo Mayer, Erik Truffaz, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, Rick Margitza, Hiram Bullock, Ravi Coltrane, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra - \u0219i lista este departe de a fi complet\u0103.<br \/>\u00cen Japonia, care este cea mai mare pia\u021b\u0103 pentru jazz \u00een prezent, Robert Lakatos a \u00eenregistrat deja \u0219apte albume, iar al optulea este pe cale s\u0103 fie lansat cu Gregory Hutchinson la tobe.
