J\u00f3zsef Bal\u00e1zs graduated from the jazz department of the Ferenc Liszt University of Music, and was already oriented towards jazz during his early classical music training. With his first band, the Bop Machine, he took part in many competitions, such as the Jazz Juniors competition in Krakow, where the pianist received the prize for the best soloist.
The Bal\u00e1zs J\u00f3zsef Quintet was founded in 2005, and over time it has grown to become a significant domestic representative of melodic, modern cool. In 2007, the band leader won the Lakatos Ablakos Dezs\u0151 jazz performance scholarship. In addition to his successes in the world of jazz, he is also recognized as an arranger and author in other genres (pop, film music). Back in 2009, in connection with his quintet's debut album (I don't got you mean), Ol\u00e1h K\u00e1lm\u00e1n wrote about him: \"He improvises in any style of formation, you can feel that he speaks perfectly and uses the native language of jazz with taste.\" !<\/p>
